Join us for our next meeting on the Saturday July16, at 50 Elm St. in Waterville.
As most of us know the current list of reptiles and amphibians that is allowed in Maine without a permit is quite restrictive.  The Maine Herpetological Society’s goal since 2006 has been to get this list expanded and there has been a great deal of behind-the-scenes work to meet this goal.  It is with great pleasure that we announce that, due to the efforts of the Maine Herpetological Society, with the cooperation of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department, the unrestricted species list is greatly expanded.
As you've probably noticed, this is not the site you're used to seeing when you visit maineherp.org.
This past Friday (May 22) several members of the MHS met with IFW officials about the new additions to the unrestricted species list.
